I had been discharged from Vassar Medical Brothers Hospital following a stroke. But there was no way I could go back home. It was very hard for me: I had no muscle control. I couldn’t walk or even feed myself.

I had been to many skilled nursing facilities before, and my rehab was unsuccessful at all of them. My family was getting discouraged, wondering if I’d ever get better. Being admitted to New Paltz Center changed all that. After three months of hard work with the physical, occupational and speech therapists, I was back on my feet.

The whole New Paltz Center team is wonderful. They didn’t give up on me. I’m back home now, and I’ve even gone back to work in my tailor shop. I fix clothes; New Paltz Center fixed me! They’re so good, my family is working with the team to have another family member admitted.
