I had taken a series of bad falls and to make matters worse, I had suffered wounds on my right hand and knee. The wounds had begun to swell—my doctor said I had cellulitis. Instead of sending me to a hospital—a place I didn’t want to go—the doctor called the Centers Community Liaison, who had me admitted to Glens Falls Center directly from home.
The team there was very sympathetic to my situation—and very knowledgeable. First, they treated my wounds, cleaning the area, applying a cool compress, and covering it. What a wonderful bedside manner! While my wounds were healing I worked with the therapy team and they focused on strengthening my legs, standing balance and walking.
The wounds are healed, and I’m walking without fear of falling. I’m happy to be independent and back home again, even if I do miss the care and compassion of the Glens Falls Center team.
