“I’ve always been very independent. I like to go to the supermarket, take a drive—do things on my own without any help. And I wanted to take a trip to Arizona. But I’m 86, and when I took a fall and fractured my hip, I had to put my Arizona dreams on hold. The hip surgery was followed by renal failure…and then I got COVID-19.
The hospital recommended that I seek post-acute rehab after hospitalization, but I was extremely reluctant to go into therapy. A Hospital Liaison—she was very kind and patient—together with my son convinced me to go to Schenectady Center…and I’m so glad they did.
The therapists at Schenectady worked with me daily, and they were great. They gave me my independence back. After a few short weeks, I knew I would be discharged. Next stop: Arizona!”
