“I needed multiple surgeries and by the time it was all over I was in pretty bad shape—I couldn’t even walk. When I was discharged from the hospital, I was seriously depressed. It was night when I was transferred to Deptford Center, and the darkness outside matched my mood. I felt like I was in a pit of despair.
The night shift at Deptford Center was so caring, considerate and welcoming, I started to feel better right away. And once I went to work with the physical and occupational therapists, my physical condition began to improve as well. They pushed me hard, which was good, and encouraged me as well.
I came to Deptford Center in a wheelchair, but I’m back on my own two feet now, and when I go I’ll walk out on my own. I’ll be taking some great memories with me—all the fun activities and the new friends I’ve made. In a word, the place is amazing!”
