“After my stroke, I was diagnosed with hemiplegia—a medical term for paralysis of one side of my body. I was basically only half there physically, the muscles on that side ceasing to function properly. By the time I got to Wichita Center, I was in very bad shape. I had taken several falls, hitting my head. I was black and blue all over.
The staff at Wichita Center was so kind, caring and helpful. They also treated me with respect, as an individual, which is very important. They all worked together—the therapists, nurses, dietitians, everyone—to build up my confidence, my health and my strength.
The physical and occupational therapists pushed me hard, but never too hard. They knew my limits and were patient with me. The Wichita Center team was very impressive, and my condition improved 100%. They made me whole again! “
